When your electric cooperative’s business office is on a Texas city’s Main Street, you’ve got to know how to show community spirit.

So the member services representatives of Wood County Electric Cooperative jumped at the chance to get involved in downtown Quitman’s Treats for Kids project.

“They decided to spend the day dressed as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” said Paige Eaton, director of communications for the co-op.

Taking a page from the Brothers Grimm children’s classic, and adding a touch of Walt Disney magic, the eight member services reps spent the workday in character.

“We had a Sleepy, a Grumpy, a Happy, a Dopey, a Doc, a Bashful and Sneezy,” said Eaton. “And of course, there was a Snow White.”

The Quitman Chamber of Commerce sponsors its “Treats for Kids” event every year. This time, it was held Oct. 28.

“We pass out a great selection of candy every year, and we always pick the good stuff in case we’ve got leftovers to eat ourselves,” said Eaton. “This is a fun event, and we get a kick out of participating every year.”
