Co-op Makes Learning Fun
“America’s Favorite Quiz Show” is the slogan for the popular “Jeopardy” TV game show.
And judging by the enthusiastic response to the electronic version at one Indiana co-op, that may be the case there, as well.

An electronic version of “Jeopardy” is freshening up energy-efficiency presentations at schools and employee meetings at Kosciusko REMC, Warsaw. However, the co-op will continue to use Microsoft PowerPoint presentations and special speakers.
“We have used the same safety presentation program for area schools for several years,” said Doris Lemert, the co-op’s manager of marketing and communications and a “Jeopardy” fan who brought the game to the co-op’s attention.
“I wanted to find something fresh to use for presentations that would have broad appeal and capture the attention of both kids and adults.”
The electronic version of the game, available for about $550 through the show’s website or at teacher stores, hooks directly into a television. It comes with computer graphics, cartridges, and clickers for contestants; the co-op spent about $1,000 total after it bought additional clickers and cartridges. Sample questions are available through the website, or users can program their own.
The game has the same sound effects as the show, including the famous jingle. “It’s pretty slick,” said Lemert.
In use since April, the game has been a big hit with students and staff, said Carol Presley, the co-op’s energy advisor, who programs and uses it. At an Earth Day presentation at a local school, “the kids were up on the edge of their seats, and the teachers were shouting out answers, too.”
