SAN ANTONIO, Texas—An advertising campaign that the judges called “well planned, documented, creative and informative” earned GreyStone Power Corp. the 2014 Edgar F. Chesnutt Award for Best Total Communication Program.
Presented May 14 during CONNECT ’14, the Chesnutt Award is the highest honor bestowed by the Spotlight on Excellence Awards program.
“Thank you for rewarding excellence in communications,” said Vicki Harshbarger, GreyStone’s manager of public relations and communications.
“We have a mission…to improve the quality of life of those we serve, to empower our members, and what an awesome responsibility it is to fulfill that mission,” added Harshbarger, who accepted the award from Jim Bausell, NRECA senior vice president of communications.
The ad campaign featured themes that focused on pocketbook issues and member identity for GreyStone’s member-owners. Message subjects included energy efficiency savings and the benefits of cooperative membership.
In honoring Douglasville, Ga.-based GreyStone, the judges cited the ad campaign’s “research-based approach as a solid way to develop effective communications. The goals are clearly identified, and the tactics are created to accomplish those objectives.”
The award is named for Edgar F. Chesnutt who, for more than a quarter century, was manager of corporate communication at Arkansas Electric Cooperatives, until his death in 1987.
