An App for Energy Efficiency

Touchstone Energy® Cooperatives’ Together We Save program has featured a popular website for more than two years already. Now they have added the Together We Save-Tip of the Day app.
“There’s an initial loading screen and then it comes up with a randomized tip on how to save energy and money,” said Jason McGrade, Touchstone Energy’s senior Web development and social media specialist.
Since day one, Together We Save has stressed making simple changes and improvements that save money and improve energy efficiency. Following that theme, the tips are all “very easy” to follow, McGrade said. “It’s all based off of the low-cost/no-cost options we’ve provided.”
Tips are being added constantly. “The idea is that you can go on at any point in time and get a wide range of tips,” McGrade said.
The tips available in early June live up to the promise of simplicity. “Set thermostats to 78 Degrees F in the summer,” reads one tip. Another advises, “Set the freezer temperature to 0 – 5 Degrees F.”
To see the next tip, you simply touch the screen. Each tip has a link to the Together We Save Blog with a full article that expands on the tip.
The Together We Save-Tip of the Day app is free and available for download on all platforms: Droid, Blackberry and Apple. It’s the second app that Touchstone Energy has unveiled this year, joining the app for the popular Co-op Connections Card.
