Tri-State G&T and its 42 distribution systems that are Touchstone Energy® Cooperatives are teaming up to sponsor the Colorado Rockies this season on Fox Sports Net Rocky Mountain. The ads spotlight the Together We Save energy efficiency campaign.

Jim Van Someren, communications manager at the Westminster, Colo.-based G&T, called it important to spread the word about Together We Save, noting that it is Touchstone Energy’s national campaign. “We’ve provided materials to our member co-ops. The materials are absolutely of the highest quality,” Van Someren said. Tri-State wants people to visit the Together We Save website, which he called “an incredibly useful tool.”

“We are using the national spots that we’ve tagged locally, and we have value-added features as well,” said Van Someren. One of those features is the “Touchstone Energy Save of the Week,” which airs during all 26 Sunday afternoon games on FSN.

“We’re able to pass along an energy-saving tip from the Together We Save campaign, along with a Rockies defensive highlight from the past week,” Van Someren added. “It ties us in a little closer to both the network and the Rockies, and it further strengthens our exposure in the game broadcast.”

Tri-State and the 42 distribution co-ops serve nearly 250,000 square miles across four states. “It presents a challenge,” when looking for cost-effective and impactful advertising venues, said Van Someren. Tri-State looks for regional programs that cover the majority of its vast member system service territory, and in the Rockies games they found a good vehicle.

“Fox Sports Net Rocky Mountain’s coverage area mirrors very effectively Tri-State’s member service territory,” Van Someren said. FSN is the sole Rockies TV broadcaster—there are no more games on free TV—and is carried on numerous cable and satellite systems covering Colorado, New Mexico, Wyoming and parts of Nebraska and Utah. “They do a good job in saturating our market.”
